Carrot Oil

carrot oil
Carrot Oil is derived from edible carrots (Daucus carota L.) by hexane extraction. Vacuum distillation then removes the hexane resulting in pure carrot oil.

In addition to its designation as food coloring additive, carrot oil is also used topically on the skin and in hair due to its antioxidant properties. The fact that this natural coloring is a viscous liquid puts it into a league all its own. While some consider the process by which the oil is extracted an industrial one, there are not chemical additives used, thus maintaining the designation of all natural.
