Caramel Color

Caramel Color is among the oldest and by far the most popular natural food coloring. Sugars are caramelized during a controlled heat treatment which results in a flavorless dark brown coloring agent.
Color Hues
Caramel Color is available in liquid and powder forms, each used for specific applications.
Liquid applications:
The color tone of the caramel color is defined by the Hue Index, which measures the color hue of caramel color. The higher the Hue between 510 and 610 nanometers, the more reddish brown the caramel color.

- Beverages; soft drinks, ice tea, whiskey, rum, wines, vermouth, brandy, beer, lemonade and protein drinks.
- Sauces; barbecue sauce, gravy and gravy bases, soy sauce and various condiments.
- Other; dark breads, cookies, cake mix, flavoring extracts, pancake syrup, candy, soup, cereal and pet foods.
- Ice tea, drink powders, dark breads, cookies, cake mixes, gravy bases, seasoning mix, chocolate and coffee.
